Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF):
Space Education Working Group (SEWG)

JAXA Space Education Center serves as a secretariat of the Space Education Working Group (SEWG) of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF). Now the largest space conference in the Asia-Pacific, APRSAF draws attendees from public, private, academic, and non- governmental sectors from more than 40 countries and regions.

Space Education Working Group (SEWG)
The Space Education Center serves as co-chair of the APRSAF SEWG and assists in organizing the water rocket event and the themed poster contest. The annual pair of events gives primary, middle, and high school students a rare opportunity to shine on the international stage. The APRSAF Space Education Seminar and the Educator Workshop provide valuable opportunities for teachers and educators to gather and trade experiences, insights and achievements from their own space education activities. The aim of these educator programs is to enhance the quality of teaching, nurturing the kind of next-generation talent capable of true innovation.

Water Rocket Event

Water Rocket Event

Since 2005, the Space Education Working Group has organized a Water Rocket Event each year. This annual regional Event has provided opportunities for young people between 12 and 16 years old not only to learn about basics of rocket science and space activities in general, but also to learn about other countries and their cultures, to build lasting friendships beyond national borders based on the common interest in space.

Poster Contest

The Space Education Working Group has organized a Poster Contest under a selected theme each year since 2006 during the APRSAF session, for children between 8 and 11 years of age. From among those posters submitted by the participating countries, the participants of the APRSAF session vote to select the best poster, for APRSAF Best Poster Award.

Space Education Seminar

Space Education Seminar

The Space Education Working Group organizes space education seminars as a response to the need for providing opportunities for teachers to learn, experience and discuss how to incorporate “space” in their classrooms. The seminar is co-organized by JAXA Space Education Center and the host agency. The contents of the seminar are fully customized according to the needs of the host country.
