Together with CSA, CNES, ESA and NASA, JAXA through its Space Education Center jointly organizes the Student Participation Programme during the annual IAC and sponsors Japanese students to attend IAC technical sessions and many other IAC activities. By providing opportunities for the exchange of information and ideas with students from other countries, the Programme assists young people to acquire broad perspectives in their activities for future.
JAXA Space Education Center and ISU jointly provide scholarships each year for a limited number of a few Japanese individuals who have completed undergraduate degree programs to enrol in nine-week Summer Session Programs (SSP) or one-year Masters Programs (MSS/MSM: Master of Science in Space Studies(MSS) / Master of Science in Space Management).
Through collaborations with Human Space Systems and Utilization Program Group within JAXA, Space Education Center dispatches a few Japanese teachers of primary and secondary schools and educators to participate in the annual SEEC, held at Space Center Houston.
In the region of Asia and the Pacific, the Space Education Center supports education activities of APRSAF.
JAXA, through its Space Education Center, collaborates with the members of ISEB, which was established by CSA, ESA, JAXA and NASA in October 2005 in order to: i) increase science, technology, engineering and mathematics literacy achievement in connection with space; and ii) support the future workforce needs of space programs.
Upon invitation, the Space Education Center has participated in various international meetings and activities of international organizations that addressed space education.
Through those international meetings and activities, the Center introduced its education programmes as well as teaching materials while pursuing collaborations with various entities of other countries to promote space education activities particularly in developing countries. To date, the Center has participated in the meetings of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and the Fifth Space Conference of the Americas (CEA: Conferencia Espacial de las Americas) as well as space education workshops organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in developing countries.
