[FY2019]APRSAF-26 Water Rocket Event Results

JAXA Space Education Center hosted the APRSAF-26 Water Rocket Event during November 23 (Sat) - 24 (Sun) at the training facility of National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan and Camp Fuchinobe (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa) and dispatched Japanese national teams.

The APRSAF-26 Water Rocket event was held with 65 teachers and students in addition to 24 instructors and 32 observers from 13 Asia-Pacific countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Columbia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam). On the first day, the students introduced their respective countries through country presentations in the morning, before crafting their water rockets in the afternoon using materials provided by the event host. The weather improved on the second day and the water rocket competition was conducted as scheduled. The participants launched their hand-crafted rockets twice and competed over how close their rockets landed to the target set 80 meters far.

  • First prize: Mr. U.G. Didula Adithya, Sri Lanka (1.34m)
  • Second prize: Mr. Mohamad Ashraf Mohd Salim, Malaysia (1.47m)
  • Third prize: Ms. Maria Jose Mercado, Columbia (1.73m)
  • Special prize (the shortest total distance from the target over two launches):
           Mr. U.G. Didula Adithya, Sri Lanka (4.64m)
