宇宙航空研究開発機構

The webinars focusing on the development of space exploration in Southeast Asia co-hosted by the UK Science Museum Group (SMG) and JAXA Space Education Center

This seminar series is the second of UKSM's multidisciplinary series of webinars. The first season focused on Japan included talks on Exoplanets, the Hayabusa2 mission and the history of Japan's space activities. The seminars were given by JAXA researchers. Season 2 is co-hosted with JAXA's Space Education Center, and will consider space activity in South East Asia. For the seminar series we invite scholars and representatives of the space sector to discuss the history and current practice of space exploration as pursued in and perceived from the respective regions.

AIM

Recent years have seen continued growth of space activity across Asia. The primary goal of this seminar series is to deepen our understandings of such activities in East and South East Asia. We will hear first-hand accounts from those working and commenting upon the region's space exploration and application programmes.

The series employs an ethos of 'shared authority' in which contribution and comment are anchored in the relevant regions themselves. The seminar series will build further towards more complete and globally representative understandings of space exploration and its history, increasingly pertinent to the rapidly growing global space sector of the twenty-first century.
